How Weak Is Thine Heart?

Today’s Passage – Ezekiel 14 – 16 (Click on the references to listen to the audio – click here to view the text from the Blue Letter Bible website)

(Second Milers also read – 2 Corinthians 9 – 13;Psalms 11 – 15; Proverbs 3)

Listen to this morning’s Scripture song – Psalm 34:6

Read the “0903 Evening and Morning” devotion for today, by the late Charles Haddon Spurgeon.

Read a previous post from this passage – “Thy Sister Sodom”

“How weak is thine heart, saith the Lord GOD, seeing thou doest all these things, the work of an imperious whorish woman;” (Ezekiel 16:30)

“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:41)

“I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:” (Galatians 1:6)

In today’s reading from Ezekiel 14 – 16, God is pronouncing judgment upon His people for turning their back completely on Him. He reminds them in chapter 16 how that He blessed them more than any other nation on the face of the earth. He took them from nothing and gave them everything. Yet, they soon bit the hand that fed them: they forsook God and turned to the idols that were worshipped by the Heathen nations that surrounded them, even going as far as sacrificing their own children (burning them). In the midst of chapter 16, God says, “How weak is thine heart…seeing thou doest all these things…”.

I got to thinking about my own weakness. God has blessed me above anything that I could have asked for; and He has convinced me over and over again regarding surrendering my life to Him completely. However, I continue to forsake His principles and do things (or not do things) that I have committed to do. Why is it that we have no willpower to resist evil. The other verses listed above share the same principle: the disciples were too weak to stay awake at a prayer meeting; and the Galatians were easily swayed from the doctrine of Grace. Our flesh indeed is weak. Our hearts are desperately wicked.

I don’t think the solution to this problem, however, is an increase in our fleshly will power. Paul gives us the solution in Galatians 5: ”walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh”. Do you want to have more spiritual willpower? Walk with God: walk in His word; spend time communing with Him in prayer; gather with His children; and serve Him with all of your heart. I can look back at my life and clearly see that the times that I struggled the most with my thoughts and actions were times that I was not walking with God as I should have been. The closer I get to God, the farther away goes the desire to sin.

By the way, notice what it says about the cause of Sodom’s fall:

“Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.” (Ezekiel 16:49)

We can see here that Sodom had the same problem that Israel (and America) has. They are too proud to acknowledge that God is the source of their blessing; they have too much free time on their hands and they are not using this time to serve God; and they are very prosperous, yet they will not share their wealth.

Today’s Passage – Ezekiel 10 – 13 (Click on the references to listen to the audio – click here to view the text from the Blue Letter Bible website)

(Second Milers also read – 2 Corinthians 5 – 8; Psalms 6 – 10; Proverbs 2)

Listen to this morning’s Scripture song – Psalm 34

Read the “0902 Evening and Morning” devotion for today, by the late Charles Haddon Spurgeon.

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.   But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.”  Psalms 1:1-2

King David, the writer of the majority of Psalms, was a talented poet.  His writings were bold and personal with God.

In verse one and two we see David talking about getting counsel. And his counsel comes from the Word of God.

In life we have many trials and testing.  There are so many self-help books, TV and radio shows, and other worldly advisors.  Verse one warns us about this kind of counsel.  My friend, the best self-help book is the Bible, and the best group session to attend is church.

How should I dress?

It seems like women are showing more and more skin. But the Bible says,

“In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.”   (1Timothy 2:9-10)

How should I treat my husband?

Just watch most TV programs.  The wife will puts her husband down and tries to take his place as the head of the house.  She shows no love or respect towards him.  The Bible says,

“Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.” Ephesians 5:22

Men, this is for you.

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;” Ephesians 5:25

Who should I marry?

The world would tell you that you don’t need to marry. Or you can marry anyone you want.  If it doesn’t work out leave.

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”  (2Colossians 6:14)

“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”  (Genesis 2:24)

I could never forgive ….. for what they did.

The way of the world would tell you to spend all your time and energy on getting even.  The Bible says,

“Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.”  (Col0ssians 3:13)

God loves you.  He is your Heavenly Father.  He will guide you in all things.  His counsel is the only truth.  Together, let’s follow David’s advice and seek God’s counsel.

Thank You

1 John 5:13

How Far Has America Fallen? – The Saturday Morning Post

Happy Meal Ouija Board

Today’s Passage – Jeremiah 33 – 36 (Click on the references to listen to the audio – click here to view the text from the Blue Letter Bible website)

(Second Milers also read – Acts 25 – 28; Psalms 111 – 115; Proverbs 23)

NOTE ON PHOTO: As far as I can see the McDonald’s Happy Meal Ouija Board is not being offered by McDonald’s. It is the work of artist Newt Clements from Los Angeles, CA, who works with a multitude of media to create art.

“Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us: consider, and behold our reproach. Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens. We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers are as widows. We have drunken our water for money; our wood is sold unto us. Our necks are under persecution: we labour, and have no rest. We have given the hand to the Egyptians, and to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread. Our fathers have sinned, and are not; and we have borne their iniquities. Servants have ruled over us: there is none that doth deliver us out of their hand. We gat our bread with the peril of our lives because of the sword of the wilderness. Our skin was black like an oven because of the terrible famine. They ravished the women in Zion, and the maids in the cities of Judah. Princes are hanged up by their hand: the faces of elders were not honoured. They took the young men to grind, and the children fell under the wood. The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their musick. The joy of our heart is ceased; our dance is turned into mourning. The crown is fallen from our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned! For this our heart is faint; for these things our eyes are dim. Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the foxes walk upon it. Thou, O LORD, remainest for ever; thy throne from generation to generation. Wherefore dost thou forget us for ever, and forsake us so long time? Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old. But thou hast utterly rejected us; thou art very wroth against us.” (Lamentations 5)

Good morning. My wife showed me that picture, and I said, “You have to be kidding me! How far has America fallen?” When I read Lamentations chapter 5, I could see the parallel between Israel and the United States. When our forefathers built this nation, they wanted it to be “one nation under God.” But gradually we have pushed God out of the way, to make room for other gods. We did not listen to the preachers of old when they preached against radio, TV, movies, sex outside of marriage, sodomy, tobacco, alcohol, and drugs. Our Fathers did not listen, and neither did we. Now we are paying the price: same sex marriages, loss of freedom, lack of truth, and loss of family values. Our forefathers are probably rolling over in their graves.” Or, they cry out as the souls in Revelation 6:9-10…

“And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?” (Revelation 6:9-10)

How far has America fallen, and what can we do about it?

1) Realize that we have sinned. Think about the church at Ephesus who lost their first love, and needed to do the first works again. Think about what David said in Psalm 51…

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.” (Psalm 51:1-4)

We failed to pass on our forefathers warnings, and give those around us the gospel message. We have sinned in not doing the first works: getting the gospel out and fulfilling the Great Commission. Do the first works.

2) Pray and confess that we have sinned.

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” (1John 1:7-10)

3) Ask God for His mercy which endureth forever because He knows that we have sinned.

“Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.” (Lamentations 5:21)

Then do the first works.

Peace. (2Chronicles 7:14)

dad and me 3

Today’s Passage – Jeremiah 46 – 48 (Click on the references to listen to the audio – click here to view the text from the Blue Letter Bible website)

(Second Milers also read – Romans 9 – 12; Psalms 120 – 125; Proverbs 26)

Listen to this morning’s Scripture song – 1 John 3:1

Read the “0826 Evening and Morning” devotion for today, by the late Charles Haddon Spurgeon.

Read a previous post from today’s reading passage – “Forgiveness”

My Loving Father

“Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but correct thee in measure; yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished.”  (Jeremiah 46:28)

I love this verse because it reminds me of my relationship with my Dad. He was and still is my hero. I loved being with him. I went everywhere with him. I did everything with him.  He taught me about safety if there was dangerous situations. If there was one thing my Dad gave me, it was his time, “for I am with thee;”

My Dad also guided me through life. He taught me direction when I didn’t know which way to turn. He helped me see the pros and cons in life decisions, but he also respected my opinion. If I made a mistake, he was there to pull me up and help me on my way, “for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee:”

Even with all the great times I’ve had with my Dad, I remember those times of correction. I don’t think anyone likes times of correction, but if we admit it, we know it’s for our own good. He didn’t have to do a thing to punish me because it would hurt me to disappoint my Dad. But when needed, I got what was coming to me.

Jeremiah was a man who was always under great persecution. Here at the end of chapter 46, we see our loving God taking care of His child Jeremiah.

God also cares for us in the same way He cared for Jeremiah. He protects us, He directs us, and when needed, He corrects us. He tenderly cares for us as a Dad cares for his child. But to me, the four most precious words in this verse is, “I am with thee.”

Thank You

What Will You Do With The Word Of God? – The Saturday Morning Post

the-holy-bible2

Today’s Passage – Jeremiah 33 – 36 (Click on the references to listen to the audio – click here to view the text from the Blue Letter Bible website)

(Second Milers also read – Acts 25 – 28; Psalms 111 – 115; Proverbs 23)

Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto Baruch, saying, Take in thine hand the roll wherein thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them. And they said unto him, Sit down now, and read it in our ears. So Baruch read it in their ears. Now it came to pass, when they had heard all the words, they were afraid both one and other, and said unto Baruch, We will surely tell the king of all these words. And they asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How didst thou write all these words at his mouth? Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these words unto me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book. Then said the princes unto Baruch, Go, hide thee, thou and Jeremiah; and let no man know where ye be. And they went in to the king into the court, but they laid up the roll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and told all the words in the ears of the king. So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll: and he took it out of Elishama the scribe’s chamber. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes which stood beside the king. Now the king sat in the winterhouse in the ninth month: and there was a fire on the hearth burning before him. And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth. Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words. Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the roll: but he would not hear them.” (Jeremiah 36:14-25)

Good morning. It may be cool where you are this morning, even damp from rain. What would you think if I threw a NIV bible on the fire? Would that heat thing up a bit. How about a New King James, or any of the newer bibles that call God Father/Mother? As the title of a book once said, “Things That Are Different Are Not The Same.” There is only on preserved Word of God for English speaking people: The King James Bible. There can only be one truth, everything else would be a lie. How do you feel about the Word of God? The king had very little regard for God’s Word. As God’s Word was being read to him, he would cut a piece off and throw it in the fire. How could he do that? How would he know the truth contained in God’s Word?

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” (John 17:17)

How would he know to do the right thing without the Word of God?

…Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes. With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches. I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.” (Psalm 119:9-16)

How would he have hope?

They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word.” (Psalm 119:74)

…My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word.” (Psalm 119:81)

Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.” (Psalm 119:114)

How would he find comfort, joy, and rejoicing?

This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.” (Psalm 119:50)

Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.” (Jeremiah 15:16)

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and trying to destroy God’s Word was not a wise move on the part of the king. Are not those who pervert the Word of God making the same unwise move? Is this the same unwise move that America has been making for years? Seeing the results of raising godless children who don’t fear God, or care what the Word of God says, do we let them go on killing each other, or teach them in the way they should go? Stand on the Truth. Stand on the King James Bible.

Peace! (Psalm 119:89)

(Second Milers also read – Acts 13 – 15; Psalms 91 – 95; Proverbs 19)

Listen to this morning’s Scripture song – Isaiah 51:11

Read the “0819 Evening and Morning” devotion for today, by the late Charles Haddon Spurgeon.

The Beginning Of Sorrows

“And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you: For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.” (Mark 13:5-8)

Jim Jones, Charles Manson, Marshall Applewhite, and Warren Jeffs, are just some of the modern day men who claimed to be Jesus Christ.

The Gulf War, The Bombings of Afghanistan and Sudan, War on Terror, World War lll.

1994, USA – 2004, Indian Ocean – 2005 & 2007, Sumatra – 2010, Haiti & Chile – 2011, Tohodu – 2012, Italy.

1996, North Korea, about 600,000 people died of starvation – 1998 to 2004, Second Congo War, 3.8 million people died, mostly from starvation and disease – 2011 to 2012, Somalia and Sahel, brought on by drought – 2013, Somewhere in the World.

Talk about troubles, on the Wikipedia web site, there are about 100 minors listed who’ve committed murder.  Many people, young and old, have committed suicide since 1996.  Thousands are addicted to drugs sex and alcohol.  Divorce, same sex marriage, throwing God out and allowing other gods in.

Can you see that we are in the closer than ever to the return of Christ?

Fellow ladies, servants of God, I would like to challenge you, along with myself.  Pray and ask God to help you spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.  Put some Gospel tracks in our purses and pass them out.  Leave them in restrooms.  Put them in the envelope when paying your bills.  Leave them with a tip.  Pray for opportunities to invite people to church.  Be creative.  Teach our children to do the same.  If the Lord tarries, they will be the next generation to carry on the work of the Lord.

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)

“How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?”    (Romans 10:14)

“And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?” (Luke 2:47-49)

We too must be about our Father’s business.  Will you join me this week and share Jesus with someone?  Someday, through death or the rapture, we will no longer be able to obey Jesus’ last words as He was ascending into Heaven:

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.    (Mark 16:15)

Thank You

Going Down – The Saturday Morning Post

the-dollar-is-going-down-the-drain-right-now

Today’s Passage – Jeremiah 7 – 9 (Click on the references to listen to the audio –click here to view the text from the Blue Letter Bible website)

(Second Milers also read – Acts 4 – 6; Psalms 76 – 80; Proverbs 16)

“Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.” (Jeremiah 8:5)

Good morning. Here are some statistics for you to read while having your breakfast. These are approximate, and for the United States, per year…

There are 5,000 deaths from Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

There are 16,238 deaths from Homicides.

There are 30,000 deaths from Suicides.

There are 1.21 million deaths of Aborted Babies.

And there are 1.48 million deaths by Natural Causes.

America is on a downward spiral. It is going down, getting further away from God and closer to Hell. Why? For the same reason Jerusalem for their perpetual backsliding: they hold fast to deceit, and refuse to return to God and His ways. But…

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32)

But we hold fast to deceit, and refuse to return to God. There are 5,000 deaths from Sexually Transmitted Diseases. Did you know that the virus that causes AIDS is so small that it can easily slip through the pores of your “protection?” It also is possible for the AIDS virus to live outside the body for several weeks. Although no AIDS cases have been linked to outside body contact, it would be better to be safe than sorry. The Bible says…

“For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God…” (1Thesselonians 4:3-5)

There are 16,238 deaths from Homicides. And we can see by what the Bible says about the first Homicide, the murder of Able by his brother Cain. Cain wanted to worship God with the works of his hands, Able worshipped God with a blood sacrifice…

“And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.” (Genesis 4:3-8)

Cain refused to return to the ways of God, and in his anger, murdered his brother. Maybe if we as parents, here in the USA, discipline our children the way we should, and train them up in the way they should go, they would understand that there is a penalty to pay for their rebellious actions.

There are 30,000 deaths from Suicides. All over America, millions are saddened by the death of Robin Williams. Maybe if someone had told him about Jesus he would not have been in such despair as to take his own life. Jesus said…

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 1633)

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)

There are 1.21 million deaths of Aborted Babies in the U.S. per year. Babies are not just a blob of flesh turning into a baby inside of you. They are living human beings,

“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

“And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda; And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.” (Luke 1:39-44)

And then there are 1.48 million deaths by Natural Causes per year. This is the only one that should exist: all the others are brought on because of the the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. Death by natural causes is because we are all sinners; and the wages of sin is death…

“Wherefore, as by one man [ADAM] sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned…” (Romans 5:12)

If you do not fall victim to any of the crimes mentioned above, you will die of natural causes: sin. There is only one cure for sin: the Lord Jesus Christ. What you do with Him will determine where you will spend eternity.

“And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” (1John 5:8-13)

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

America does not have to go down, but it chooses to do so by holding fast to deceit, and refusing to return to God and His ways. But there is always hope. As Yogi Bearer said, “It ain’t over till it’s over.”

God says…

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2Chronicles 7:14)

Peace. (John 3:16)

There Is No God But Our God – The Saturday Morning Post

jesus_holding_earth_world Today’s Passage – Isaiah 44 – 47 Click on the references to listen to the audio – click here to view the text from the Blue Letter Bible website) (Second Milers also read – John 11 – 12; Psalms 41 – 45; Proverbs 9)

“Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.” (Isaiah 44:6)

There is no God, but our God. King of Kings, and Lord of Lords; the First and the Last; the Beginning and the End.

“Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.” (Isaiah 44:8)

Our Great God who chooses to use His people to be witnesses of His great power.

“I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.” (Isaiah 45:5-6)

The Loving God who supplies our every need. There is nothing that can compare to the One True God.

“For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.” (Isaiah 45:18)

The Almighty God who created everything, and has the power to sustain His creation. There is none else.

“Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” (Isaiah 45:21-22)

The Only God who left His home in Heaven, and put on flesh, was born of a virgin, and shed His blood to pay the price for the sins of the world. He is Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. He is Jesus Christ.

“Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me…” (Isaiah 46:9)

Peace. (Romans 5:8)

JUST FOR LADIES – BY CAMILLE STAHL

SIN CITY

Today’s Passage – Isaiah 29 – 32 (Click on the references to listen to the audio – click here to view the text from the Blue Letter Bible website)

(Second Milers also read – John 3 – 4; Psalms 21 – 25; Proverbs 5)

Listen to this morning’s Scripture song – Psalm 34:6

Read the “0805 Evening and Morning” devotion for today, by the late Charles Haddon Spurgeon.

Read previous posts from this morning’s reading passage – “Tell Us the Truth“, “All Talk” and “Trust in the Lord

Who Are You Trusting?

“Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.” (Isaiah 30:1-3)

Isaiah begins this chapter by rebuking the people for making plans that are not in line with God’s plans. Isaiah calls them stubborn, rebellious children for doing this. Rather than relying on God who had promised to deliver them, they are turning to Egypt for an alliance to save them from Assyria. Notice what God says in verse 2: “That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth.” The people were not considering God’s plans. They were not looking for the direction of God. God had told them that he would deliver them, but out of unbelief they are making their own plans. The people fail to understand that relying on anyone but God brings shame and is no help at all. Notice that God says this in verse 7. “For the Egyptians shall help in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I cried concerning this, Their strength is to sit still.”  Going our own way and seeking our own life direction leads to failure.

How often do we make the wrong plans and ask the wrong questions for our lives! The most important questions for life are often never asked at all. Do we ask if taking a particular job or having a particular occupation is good for the kingdom of God? Is my choice good for my family’s spirituality? Is this decision good for my spirituality? Will my actions negatively impact other Christians? Will I have to work on days I should be in church? We don’t ask those questions first typically. We ask how much money we can make. We ask if it is something we want to do. We ask if it is something that we like and will make us comfortable. We often do not ask the hard questions. We do not think with spiritual intention. We do not think about how our decision will impact the future faith of our children.  God is concerned with your faith. Do you trust him to make decisions based on him, what the Bible says, and not on yourself?  If God stood by Israel as a cloud at night and a pillar of fire by day, to lead His children, then He will lead us also.  Together let’s seek the Lord’s will in our lives.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”   (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Thank You

The Devil’s To-Do List – The Saturday Morning Post

crushserpent

Today’s Passage – Isaiah 14 – 18 (Click on the references to listen to the audio – click here to view the text from the Blue Letter Bible website)

(Second Milers also read – Luke 21 – 22; Psalms 6 – 10; Proverbs 2)

“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.” (Isaiah 14:12-15)

Good morning. Have you checked your To-Do list today? I’m sure the devil checked his. He knows his time is running out. In as few as seven years from now, he will be cast into a bottomless pit: held captive there for one-thousand years. Then the devil will be released (but not for good behaviour) and deceive the nations once again, and then he is cast into the Lake of Fire that was prepared for him. So he knows his time is short. If we know what is on the devil’s To-Do list, maybe we could help him not to get anything on the list done. So here it is…

1) Devour someone.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” (1Peter 5:8-9)

It is not just you that the devil wants to devour, but your brothers and sisters in Christ from across the street and around the world. We must resist him: stand on our faith in Christ…

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)

2) Steal God’s Word.

“Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.” (Matthew 13:18-19)

And no wonder they do not understand with all the perversions of the Bible available today. Many verses have been changed or left out; words have been changed or left out. God said he would preserve His Word…

“The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.” (Psalm 12:6-7)

But the devil is smart, he even steals parts of verses. If you an NIV (non-inspired version) bible (small ‘b’ on purpose: God’s Bible should only be capitalized), and you were trying to cast out a demon and found you could not do it. You would look for an example in your NIV bible. You would be led to find Matthew 17 and the account of the disciples failing to cast out a demon. You would read verse 20, and then find the passage jumps to verse 22. But where verse 21 should be, the NIV tells you to see Mark 9:29. You turn to Mark 9 and it says…

“He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.”

You sadly walk away, saying, “But I did pray. What went wrong?”

What went wrong? The devil stole a verse and some words…

“Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” (Matthew 17:21)

“And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.” (Mark 9:29)

We can’t afford to be led astray by perverted translations of God’s True and Holy Word. Stand on the King James Bible – it’s the only Authorized Version.

3) (NOTE to self: Save this one for last!) Bow the knee, and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:5-11)

“And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” (Revelation 20:10)

So submit yourself to God, and stand on His preserved Word for the English speaking people: the King James Bible. Then you can sit back in Heaven and watch #3 happen. You should also bring others with you to see this great event: the devil hates soul winning too!

Peace! (Revelation 22:20-21)
