The Growing Glowing – The Saturday Morning Post by Pastor Ted Stahl

Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee; And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.” (Matthew 4:12-16)

Good morning. While I was in a Home Depot store the other day, a lady came up to me looking for concrete patch in a tube. I showed her where it was, and then told her I liked her shirt. Her shirt had “I Love Jesus” across the front. I believe, if I remember correctly, that she said she had been saved for around 43 years.

Camille and I were going to take the Toyota to the dealer to get it fixed. I asked her if there was anything she needed out of the car: just her Bible. I grabbed it and proceeded to walk across the street where my truck was parked. A voice called out, “We really need that today more than ever.” I said, “What?”, turning around startled. A woman parked in front of my house, sitting in her car, said, “The Bible.”, and we had a little conversation about Jesus coming back soon.

“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.” (Joel 2:28-29)

God promises, in the end days to pour out His Spirit. We are definitely in the end times. Every thing is in place. Matthew 4:16 says…

“The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.”

America is sitting in darkness, in the region and shadow of death. We as a nation have turned our backs on God. The Sodomites are running rampant throughout our nation. We’ve removed God from our government offices, and our schools. The atheists are trying to get ‘In God We Trust’ off our money, and ‘One Nation Under God’ out of our pledge. But whether the Liberal-Commie-Nazi-Socialists want to believe it: we are still ONE NATION UNDER GOD. Take a look at the last paragraph from George Washington’s first inaugural address…

“Having thus imparted to you my sentiments as they have been awakened by the occasion which brings us together, I shall take my present leave; but not without resorting once more to the benign Parent of the Human Race in humble supplication that, since He has been pleased to favor the American people with opportunities for deliberating in perfect tranquillity, and dispositions for deciding with unparalleled unanimity on a form of government for the security of their union and the advancement of their happiness, so His divine blessing may be equally conspicuous in the enlarged views, the temperate consultations, and the wise measures on which the success of this Government must depend.” (George Washington on April 30, 1789)

We must depend on God, and we haven’t. We have become full of ourselves: we don’t need God, we can do it by ourselves. And it is the Christian’s responsibility to intercede with God. If my people which are called by my name… if… if… if…

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2Chronicles 7:14)

Our land needs healing. Little by little, lights are beginning to spring up. Last year we even said Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays. And with God, all things are possible. It reminds me of a passage from Ezekiel…

“The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry. And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest. Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them. Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.” (Ezekiel 37:1-10)

Peace. (John 20:21)

Read the “1001 Evening and Morning“ devotion for today, by the late Charles Haddon Spurgeon.

“For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth. All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.” (Amos 9:9-10)

“I will sift the house of Israel among all nations.”  Wherever the children of Israel have been scattered, God has always had His eye on them and took care of them. Whenever they were in trouble and cried out, God was there to deliver them. The righteous among them was always delivered from or through the calamities.  Not the least grain shall fall on the earth.  Whatever trial there may be in the world, God will provide a way for those who are truly His. The wicked, on the other hand, will perish.  They say The evil shall not over take nor prevent us.  They think they’ve done nothing wrong and don’t deserve to be punished.  They believe they are exempt from any punishment, but they are being deceived.  All the sinners…shall die by the sword. They will not have God’s protection.

Just as God loves and protects the nation of Israel, the Jews, He loves and protects Christians, redeemed Christians.  The lost, Gentiles/Christians, will be sifted from His children.

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:21-23)

We can already see the beginning of the sifting going on in our nation today.  People are still talking about the attack on the Twin Towers, the major changes in the weather and the amount of people who have died from it; the killings and the failing of the economy.  The list goes on and it’s keeps getting worse. God is sifting.

Sifting separates, but it affects all that is being sifted.  I’ve never sifted wheat, but I have sifted flour.  You take the flour, put it in a sifter, and start shaking it.  The good fine flour falls through the holes and the harden flour stays in the sifter.  The hard flour then gets thrown away.  The fine flour gets shaken just like the hard flour.  It may even get tossed up in the air a bit.  But then the fine flour has a harder job to do then the hard flour.  It has to squeeze through the tiny holes in the sifter while the hard flour has fun jumping around like on a carnival ride.   As a result, the fine flour gets to be baked into something tasty to eat.

Ladies, the sifting is here.  God is warning the people to turn to Him.  Things will get worse.  We need to be ready.  We must teach our children to be ready.  The sifting is going to come faster and get harder.  All will feel the effects.  We must stand strong and draw closer to God.   He is our only protection.  He loves us and will take care of us.

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Hebrews 13:5)

“I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” (Psalm37:25)

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

Are you ready?

Thank You

Read a great article by Pastor Paul Chappell – “Anatomy of a Servant’s Heart

Read the “0928 Evening and Morning“ devotion for today, by the late Charles Haddon Spurgeon.

“And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.” (Revelation 13:11-18)

It’s a miracle! No more crime! We’ve become a cashless society. Just think, I can go into any store to buy something; all they do is scan my right hand (where my chip is) and a computer debits my bank account. If I’m hurt in an accident, the doctors can get my medical records almost instantly. This is great. (I guess you know where I’m going with this now.)

“…And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles…” (Revelation 13:14)

“And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (2Thessalonians 2:8-12)

The lies about life: about evolution, no God, or we are all gods can be overwhelming: but many will believe the lie. It’s sad to see our country go down the toilet because of the love of money, power, and greed. Lies to advance their cause, and nothing more.

In October of 2004, the FDA approved the RFID chip for use in humans. The chip had been used in animals for some time already. While I was down in Texas, going to college, Kroger’s (a grocery store) was offering a certificate to get one put in your pet. I graduated college in 2000: the chip has been in use for over 13 years. Something happened in September of 2007. The news went out that the chip had caused cancerous tumors in some animals. And it is interesting to note what God’s Word says…

And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth. And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men, which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image…”

“…And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.” (Revelation 16:1-2 & 11)

The chip is here today. The technology is here today. And the Antichrist can’t be fare behind. Those destined for destruction are primed: they tried to have God removed from everywhere in our country. They don’t believe in God, and they don’t believe the Bible. After the rapture hits, they will believe in God, but they will not turn and repent: they will turn and blaspheme their creator, the one who loved them so much that He died on a cross 2000 years ago. Jesus is coming back soon to get His bride. Are you ready?

A Hot Time In The Old Town… Tonight? – The Saturday Morning Post By Pastor Ted Stahl

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?” (2Peter 3:9-12)

CHICAGO (AP) — A 3-year-old boy who was among 13 people wounded in a late-night attack on a southwest Chicago park was alert when he arrived at the hospital and was apparently doing well, his family and friends said early Friday. The attack late Thursday in the city’s Back of the Yard neighborhood left three victims, including the boy, in critical condition. The others were reportedly in serious or fair condition. The child’s uncle, Julian Harris, told the Chicago Sun-Times that dread-locked men in a gray sedan shot at him Thursday night before turning toward nearby Cornell Square Park and opening fire. He said his nephew was shot in the cheek. “They hit the light pole next to me, but I ducked down and ran into the house,” Harris said. “They’ve been coming round here looking for people to shoot every night, just gang-banging stuff. It’s what they do.”

“It’s what they do.”

Good morning. Question: What is this world coming to? Answer: The End. How would you like to know that every night someone is going to be in your neighborhood looking for someone to kill. You may be in the cross hairs of the killer’s sight. What about earlier in the week, and the shootings at the Navy Yard? It was a normal day at work for the victims until the shooting started. They had no idea that the gunman was coming that day.

Herein is a good argument against evolution: every thing is supposed to improve: evolution takes us up to the next level. But if you look at the world around us, home and abroad, you can see the cable has snapped and the Evolution Elevator is plummeting down it’s shaft faster than ever. Jesus said that without Him, we could do nothing. The world can’t even get evolution right! This is what we “evolved” into…

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” (Romans 1:20-32)

And the majority of what happened to this nation is our fault, Christian. While we have been bickering among ourselves about what preacher we should be following, what this or that person is doing, gossip, back-biting, the devil has gotten a foothold. He came in and started to turn this nation against the Living God it was created to serve. It’s our fault, Christian, but there is something we can do.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2Chronicals 7:14)

We need to humble ourselves, pray, seek the Lord’s face, and turn from all the junk we have been doing. Galatians 5:16 tells us if we walk in the Spirit, we shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Our lives will start showing the fruit of that walk…

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.” (Galatians 5:22-26)

If we do this, God promises that He will heal our land. Will we see “One nation under God” again? I don’t know, but look at what David said…

“To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness. O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.” (Psalm 51:1-15)

Peace! (Psalm 51:13)

A Bible Study For Women

Why Is God Allowing These Bad Things To Happen?

“And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments; We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments: Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.” (Daniel 9:3-6)

“O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee. To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him; Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets. Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him.” (Daniel 9:8-11)

In the past several years, we’ve seen so many disasters happen.  Through them many people were killed.  The first question everyone asks is “If God is love, powerful and in control of everything, why is He allowing these things to happen?  We blame Him for everything.  Well I would like for you to come with me back 51 years ago.  Although this was not the beginning we’ll start there.

1962 – Prayer was removed from public schools.

1963 – The Bible was taken out of public schools

Starting with the 1950’s – Music, need I say more.  If you noticed, people degenerated with the music in the way they acted and dressed.

Late 1960’s – Abortion.  Some laws were past to protect the health or life of the mother.  My question is what happened to the right of the health and life of the baby?

1973 – After two separate court cases, a woman could get an abortion right up to birth.

1960’s – Alcohol and drug use was a popular pastime, and still is.  The Sexual Freedom Revolution was also popular.

1980’s The 10 Commandments were taken out of public schools.

2013 – Gay marriages.

As you may have guessed, these are just a few things stating how we are running from God.  There has been talk about taking God out of our Pledge of Allegiance and money.  We are pushing God out of our lives more and more.  We are not obeying the voice of the Lord.  And we cry “Why does God allow these things to happen?”  It’s is amazing that He doesn’t allow more, and someday he will, not that I would wish it.

So what can I do?  I’m just one person.  David is the perfect example of what can be done.

“And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:” (Daniel 9:3)

As Christians, we need to forsake sin and get back to the basics of serving our God.   We need to search our own hearts to see where we failed God and confess it to Him then make a change.  We should alway make a stand for right no matter the cost.   The voices of the wicked are louder then the voices for God.  Pray and fast for our country as Daniel did for Israel.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2Chronicles 7:14)

This verse is talking to God’s children.  Yes Israel, but those who have Christ are also His children – “my people”.

So the answer to our question, Why is God allowing all these bad things to happen?  Because we threw Him out.

Thank You

The Beginning Is Near – The Saturday Morning Post by Pastor Ted Stahl

Can you imagine awaking to a beautiful sunrise, a warm breeze at just the perfect temperture? The aroma of flowers fill the air. Everything is just right. And then you really wake up! Good morning. In today’s passage from 2Timothy, Paul talks about the end times. If you look in the news paper, the news feed on your phone, or Fox News on TV, you will see this passage tells you what is happening today.

2 Timothy 3:1-13 KJV

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. [2] For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, [3] Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, [4] Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; [5] Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. [6] For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, [7] Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. [8] Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. [9] But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men , as theirs also was. [10] But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, [11] Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. [12] Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. [13] But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

This may be the end times for some, but for the Christian it is a new beginning: a chance to leave all this world has to offer behind, including the flesh. Before God declares war on this world, He will call back His ambassadors. David proclaimed…

Psalm 49:15 KJV

But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.

Paul told the Thesselonians…

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 KJV

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. [14] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. [15] For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. [16] For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: [17] Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. [18] Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

We have the testimony of Enoch, as to what happened when he pleased God…

Genesis 5:21-24 KJV

And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: [22] And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: [23] And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: [24] And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

We have a future, bright and beautiful, that is approaching: closer and closer every hour, every minute. Isn’t it comforting to know the last few words of the 1Thesselonians 4:17: “…and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

The beginning is near.

Peace! (1Corinthians 15:50-57)

Read the “0911 Evening and Morning” devotion for today, by the late Charles Haddon Spurgeon.

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” – (John 15:13)

12 years ago today our nation was attacked by radical Muslim terrorists filled with hatred for our culture and our freedom. I have not forgotten that day, and I am sure that all of you who read this who were alive on September 11th have not forgotten either. We remember exactly where we were and what we were doing on that day. It is my prayer that as the years go by  the memory of 9 – 11 will remain vivid in our hearts and minds for several reasons:

1  I do not want to forget that there is an enemy out there that wants to destroy us. In this world of distraction, we go about busily living our lives almost oblivious to the fact that evil still exists in our world. Satan is still very active, and His hatred for God and God’s people has only become more intense as years have passed. His influence on people has also increased; and there are more people than ever out there who are under his influence, and are willing to do his evil bidding. As Christians, we are admonished to be alert:

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” – (1 Peter 5:8)

2  I do not want to forget that there is still a cause worth fighting for. The evil that exists in the world reminds me that I must be daily in the battle, fighting the devil, and working to deliver people from his spell. The gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is still the most powerful weapon in our arsenal against the wiles of the devil. The more people that we can reach with the message of salvation, the less people Satan will have to do his bidding. Evil cannot be removed by more evil. It can only be eradicated through the love of Christ.

3  I do not want to forget that there are still people out there that are willing to die for that cause; and there are still folks out there worth dying for. Jesus died to set us free:

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – (John 8:32)

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” – (John 8:36)

“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” – (Romans 8:2)

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” – (Galatians 5:1)

Jesus died to give us liberty, and there are many still today who are willing to lay down there life for the same cause. The men and woman who are fighting today are fighting for our liberty and freedom. The men and women who were murdered by the terrorists ten years ago were murdered because the concept of liberty and freedom was under attack.

The greatest demonstration of love is sacrifice. Jesus commended His love for us by dying on the cross for our sins. Parents show their love for their children by what they sacrifice for them.  The men and women that went into those buildings in order to save lives were putting their lives on the line for other people. The men and women that fight for our freedom today are putting their lives in jeopardy for the cause of our liberty. They are sacrificing their own liberty in order to help us keep ours.

Let’s not forget these things. Let’s not forget these people. And let’s get in the battle ourselves, and be willing to sacrifice some of our liberty so that we can help others enjoy theirs.

A Bible Study For Women

“Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman. Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it: And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them. And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of the LORD, and are gone forth out of his land. But I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, whither they went. Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes. For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.” (Ezekiel 36:16-25)

Wow. When I read this, I couldn’t understand why the children of Israel would want to go their own way to worship idols. The Bible is clear on what happens when we go our own way.

“The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.” (Proverbs 12:15)

God was always good to His children. They prayed to be delivered from Egypt, and God brought them out. He promised them the Promise Land, and He fought every battle for them on their way there. He fed, clothed and walked with them in the wilderness. He gave them everything they asked for, even things that they shouldn’t of had, (a king instead of a judge, quail instead of manna…). He loved them more than any earthly father could love his children. He would someday die for them. But what did they do? The Bible says they profaned His Holy name and they worshiped idols. But to top it off, the children of Israel profaned the name of God to the heathen.

“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” (Exodus 20:3)

“Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.” (Exodus 20:7)

Taking the Lord’s name in vain does not only mean not to use it as a curse word, it also means not to degrade it, or murmur. That’s what they were doing. I always wonder why, from the day God delivered them from Egypt, they rebelled. Did they not tell their children of the wonderful things God did for them?

“And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel. And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim: And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.” (Judges 2:10-12)

I bet your thinking the same thing I’m thinking, ‘Man am I glad I’m not like the children of Israel’. Or are we?

I really don’t want to admit it but I’m not any different then they were. I have my idols of food, money, vacations, pride, and the list goes on. Yes they are idols. According to wikipedia, an idol is an image or other material object representing a deity to which religious worship is address or any person or thing regarded with blind admiration, adoration or devotion. Also as a nation that was started on Christian principles, we are throwing God out. Are we going to allow the evil of this world rule over God word?

Some things I have learned from these passages:

I must put my idols aside, put God first, and rely on Him and Him alone. I must always be in His word so I can continue to learn from the examples that are written within the pages. But not only should I them, but also I should apply them to my life. When I am down, I must learn not to complain, or murmur. It makes the Lord look bad to the world, as if He doesn’t care. As mothers and grandmothers, we must always remember to share God’s blessing so our children and grandchildren will not forget Him, and encourage others to do the same. I must always remember that my Lord loves me very much. Although the children of Israel sinned, God still put them back in their land, and cleansed them from their filthiness, and idols. And He loves us too! What love!

Will you join me?

Thank You

I John 5:13

Watch Out For Pride

Read the “0908 Evening and Morning” devotion for today, by the late Charles Haddon Spurgeon.

“Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.” (Ezekiel 28:17)

“For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” (Isaiah 14:13 & 14)

Ezekiel 28 begins with a pronounced judgement against the “prince of Tyrus” who is the earthly ruler of the land of Tyre which is just to the northwest of Israel. We read that he was very wise and because of his wisdom he became very prosperous. However, his success caused his heart to be lifted up in pride to the extent that he considered himself to be a god.

Later in the chapter there is a description of the “king of Tyrus”. At first, we wonder who this description is referring to; but soon it becomes evident that this is not the description of a man. This “king” is none other than old slewfoot, Satan He also had a problem with pride, however we read in verses 13 – 15 that it was God who created Him that way. Why is it that created beings boast about things that they had nothing to do with?

We need to really be careful about pride in our own lives. Pride goes far beyond just haughtiness about our abilities, or looks, or possessions; etc. Pride’s real danger is the elevation of self to the point that we humanize God and deify self. We get to the point that we become god in our own eyes. This leads to the gradual abandonment of God’s principles, and the complete reliance upon self. We are now in control of our lives and destinies: doing our thing, our way. We can see that the society that we live in has corporately done the same thing. We have taken God off of the throne, and have placed man on it. How stupid we are that we do not see this cycle that has repeated itself over and over since the beginning of human history? God creates man; man begins to think that he is responsible for his own abilities; then man forgets God which eventually forces His judgment.

How can I as an individual put a stop to this? First, I need to understand that it is God who has given me all that I have. I next need to remember Him by thanking Him and praising Him for all of the individual blessings. It’s probably a good idea to record all of these tangible things in a prayer journal. Finally, I need to keep trusting Hi for every area of my life. Ask Him about everything; trust Him for every decision, and wholly follow His wisdom from  the Word of God. This is a great plan in concept, but a difficult plan to implement. Why, because deep down inside of me is a nature that wants to kick God out and take over; and that fleshly old man of mine often does. I agree with the Apostle when he said:

“For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. … O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?” (Romans 7:18 & 24)

I thank God for passages like this that remind me of the truth: I am nothing, God is everything.

Are You Ready For The Day? -The Saturday Morning Post by Pastor Ted Stahl

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.” (Ephesians 6:10-20).

Good morning. Are you ready to take on the world today? It’s a battle we face every day. Our war starts with the flesh. Our flesh is either too tired, or it’s too cold and wants to stay warm under the covers. Eventually your body does drag itself out of bed, takes a shower, gets dressed, has breakfast, and now it’s ready to face the world, right? Wrong! Let’s take inventory…

1) Do you have the Truth? Jesus is the Way, THE TRUTH, and the Life. Do you have Jesus?

2) Do you have Righteousness? 1Corinthians 1:30 says, “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and RIGHTEOUSNESS…” Do you have Jesus?

3) Are you ready to give out the Gospel of Peace to others? Jesus said, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: AND YE SHALL BE WITNESSES UNTO ME both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8). Do you have Jesus?

4) Do you have your Shield of Faith? FAITH cometh by hearing and hearing by the WORD of God. And the WORD was made flesh and dwelt among us. (see Romans 10:17 and John 1:14). Do you have Jesus?

5) Do you have your Helmet of Salvation? Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I GIVE UNTO THEM ETERNAL LIFE; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one. (John 10:27-30). Do you have Jesus?

6) Do you have the SWORD of the SPIRIT, which is the WORD of God? Jesus said, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:26-27). Do you have Jesus?

Is your inventory complete? Take a look at this passage in Ephesians 6 again, about putting on the whole armour of God. If I had a favorite punctuation mark it would the colon found at the end of verse 17. This little colon is going add explanation to putting on God’s armour. What was missing from the scenario above? Do you know? That colon is going to explain what came before it with what came after it. What’s missing? Prayer. Ephesians 6:18 says, “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints…” We should always start the day with prayer. Do you have Jesus? Would you go to work naked? Could you drive to the store without a car? How do you think you can face the world with out prayer? You can’t, and neither can I. You need your prayer, all the saints need your prayer, and I need your prayer. Start your battle with the world today (and every day) in prayer. Then pray for me. Pray for me what Paul requested: “And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.” (Ephesians 6:19-20) We should all speak with boldness. Will you join me? You do not have your Armour on until you have Jesus.

Peace. (Ephesians 6:23)
